We’re excited to share that from 27th September 2025, a $2 entry fee trial will begin at the following City of Newcastle pools:
- Beresfield Swimming Pool
- Mayfield Swimming Centre
- Stockton Swimming Centre
- Wallsend Swimming Centre
This initiative follows Council’s decision on 17 June 2025 to support affordable access to the local pools.
What This Means
For the 2025/26 swimming season, you’ll be able to enjoy a swim at these four pools for just $2 per person. The trial is fully supported by the City of Newcastle, which is covering the difference between standard entry prices and the new $2 fee.

What About Lambton Swimming Pool?
Council has noted that Lambton Swimming Pool will be actively considered for inclusion in any future expansion of the trial or if a permanent $2 entry fee structure is adopted. This will depend on further advice about safety, risk management, operational capacity, and financial considerations.
Why This Matters
Council’s trial aims to make swimming more accessible for everyone, while balancing affordability with the long term sustainability of pool operations.
We look forward to welcoming you back for another great season of swimming
