Everyone Belongs: Celebrating Harmony Week

Everyone Belongs: Celebrating Harmony Week cover

This March, we are proud to join millions of Australians in celebrating Harmony Week. It is a time to celebrate our country’s cultural diversity and reinforce the message that no matter where you come from, everyone belongs.

With nearly half of all Australians born overseas or having at least one parent who was, diversity is our greatest strength. At our centres, we aren't just talking about inclusion; we strive to create environments that support and welcome our multicultural community every single day.

Creating a Space for Everyone

  • A Culture of Connection: Our facilities are designed to be more than just a place to exercise, they are community hubs. We aim to provide comfortable social spaces that encourage the "meaningful conversations" Harmony Week is known for, allowing members from all backgrounds to connect and share experiences.
  • Intuitive Way finding: We believe language should never be a barrier to staying active. By using universal iconography and clear signage, we ensure that anyone, regardless of their primary language, can navigate our spaces with confidence and independence.
  • Respectful Environments: We recognise that our members have different daily rhythms and personal needs. We work to ensure our facilities are inclusive spaces where every visitor, regardless of their cultural or spiritual background, feels secure and respected from the moment they walk through the doors.
  • Universal Design: Our commitment to inclusion includes adhering to high standards of accessible design. We want to ensure that people of all physical abilities and cultural heritages find our centres easy to use and welcoming.
