During late January, Lambton Swimming Pool celebrated its 60th birthday!
It was on 26th January in 1963 that Lambton Park War Memorial Swimming Centre officially opened. The centre was opened in a formal ceremony performed by Lord Mayor of Newcastle Alderman F. J. Purdue. The facilities were developed by the City of Newcastle, as the community’s very first inland swimming pool. It was built in memory of all of those who have served in all conflicts. The pool is popular amongst the local community with an average of 184,000 people visiting the facility annually.
Lambton Park War Memorial Swimming Centre is currently receiving a facelift, with the 60 year old grandstand to be refurbished soon….
