Make Time for You: Celebrate Women’s Health Week

Make Time for You: Celebrate Women’s Health Week cover

Women’s Health Week is Australia’s biggest event dedicated to the health and wellbeing of women and girls. This year’s theme, “Do it anyway,” is all about taking small, realistic steps toward looking after yourself, regardless of how busy life gets.

The Australian 24 Hour Movement Guidelines recommend that adults aim for 2.5 to 5 hours of moderate physical activity per week, along with two days of muscle-strengthening exercises. Your local pool is the perfect place to tick those boxes and put yourself first.

How the Pool Supports Your Goals

To Move

You do not have to sweat it out on dry land to see benefits. Swimming some gentle laps in the pool or trying a lively aqua class is a fantastic way to comfortably chip away at your weekly moderate activity goal.

To Strengthen

The guidelines emphasise the importance of muscle-strengthening activities at least twice a week. Because water provides natural, continuous resistance for every movement you make, joining a guided aqua class is an incredibly effective, low-impact way to build full-body strength at your own pace.

To Rest and Recover

The 24-hour guidelines also highlight getting 7 to 9 hours of quality sleep every night. Rhythmic swimming and gentle aquatic stretching help you focus on your breathing, soothe tired joints, and lower stress all of which drastically improve how well you sleep.

Check out our timetable to find the aqua classes and lap times that suit you, and take that step for your health this September, do it anyway!
